Supports Engineering & Quality operations with focus on process/manufacturing activity in house and on-site at factories in the Asia-Pacific and other regions. This hands-on team member works directly with Department Leadership and supplier factory Engineers and Operators in the management and development of SRI’s Supply Chain related to growth and production of machined, cast, forged, stamped and fabricated OEM products used in the automotive industry. Develops, trains, documents, implements and monitors systems to assure processes yield high quality products. Involves customer partnering and interaction related to production development, manufacture and corrective action.
Duties & Responsibility
Track supply factory performance to determine actions required for improvement.
Travel to factories, (APAC region and where required), to support production and supply base development, including factory assessment, audits, training and improvement as deemed necessary.
Develop and implement manufacturing and SRI/Customer quality requirements to assure error-proof processes include record and feedback systems enabling factories the ability to monitor, track and report production activity as required.
Provide structure, discipline and training to assure manufacturing and quality systems provide repeatable control, are appropriate, adequate and practiced.
Lead factory problem-solving and troubleshooting activity to resolve issues and implement improvement actions for effective long term problem elimination.
Support generation of PPAP controls and process flow maps for piece parts and fabrications, determine inspection techniques, check gages & test requirements.
Performs inspections as required / requested, teaches first article and in-process inspection, identifies non-conforming material and conducts problem and/or issue investigations using CAPA processes and RCCA tools and methodologies.
Supports the Specification Review process for new and revised drawings to determine material needs, inspection, analysis and testing requirements.
Supports training and growth as requested by department leadership.
AAS or BSME or related equivalent or applicable industry experience.
Ability to speak and write in Mandarin Chinese.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications and industry standards.
Mechanical inspection experience using various inspection metrology is required.
Knowledge of GD&T, (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) is a plus.
Has (or the ability to obtain) a current passport and is agreeable to global travel.
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and databases, etc.
An understanding of many of the various manufacturing processes use in the production of SRI offerings, such as: machining, various casting processes, injection molding, stamping, forging, welding, painting, plating, heat treating, etc.
Exposure and experience with a variety of component manufacturing, production and qualification test processes related to machining, welding casting, molding, stamping, forging, painting, plating, heat treating, assembly and fabrication.
PPAP, CAPA, RCCA, 8D, DMAIC, PDCA, SPC, GD&T, LSS, ISO9001, TS16969 and/or AS9100, Lean manufacturing experience, etc.
Mechanic-like aptitude for working with tools to perform assembly of product.
Experience in an automotive OEM manufacturing (or similar) environment.
