The Quality Control Inspector performs and verifies visual, dimensional, electrical, and mechanical inspection functions relating to source, first article, receiving, in process, final check and test operations using company supplied drawings, equipment, procedures, metrology and work instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports technical verification of incoming, in process, final and first article inspection in accordance with department work instructions and procedures
  • Handles all department documentation and records, as required and defined, in department work instructions as directed
  • Supports the audit function ad defined and required by Quality Management
  • Ensures parts meet customer engineering specifications and quality requirements
  • Documents inspection problems and notifies appropriate functions via the DMR, MRB and CAR processes
  • Initiates and leads supplier corrective action requests through completion
  • Prepares and submits secondary work instructions as needed
  • Organizes PPAP documentation, completes First Article Sample Disposition documents and notifies suppliers of approval, non-approval or other requirements
  • Responds to Supplier and Product Management Team inquiries in and comprehensive and timely manner
  • Special products as directed

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Working in both office and warehouse environment
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Computer and measuring equipment use
  • Fast paced environment with changing priorities throughout the day
  • Frequent use of language and math skills
  • Ability to see fine imperfection and flaws

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and/or work experience
  • Two (2) years prior experience as inspector of machined components and fabrications
  • Mechanical inspection knowledge, technique and ability
  • Knowledgeable with computers specifically MS Office Suite
  • Ability to utilize all pertinent measuring tools and equipment i.e., optical comparator, caliper, micrometer, gage pins, ring gages, hardness tester
  • Knowledge and exposure to GD&T
  • CMM experience a plus
