Specialty Resources, Inc. offers an extensive line of high quality world class OEM components from precision machined to forged and cast products serving the transportation, agricultural and a wide variety of other industries. An example of the many items offered by SRI is this stainless steel EGR investment casting.

This “Flange” is one of many in our portfolio of automotive specific components. SRI supplies this part as a complete machined product ready for our customers’ subsequent assembly process which includes weld-attachment of a rigid stainless steel tube.

EGR investment casting

This EGR investment casting is one of several critical components used in an exhaust gas re-circulation assembly called an “EGR Cooler Outlet” assembly. EGR assemblies are used in a variety of vehicles to reduce engine polluting emissions while improving and maintaining overall engine performance.

The hard plumbed assembly shown below, includes SRI’s finished cast component attached. It is used in an application where exacting feature locations are controlled by GD&T. The controlled locations are critical to assure a leak-proof, interference-free attachment to the engine and throughout the life of the vehicle. To assure trouble-free attachment, every machined feature is verified on our factories CMM and then again checked on our in-house CMM by our Quality Inspection Technicians.

Other subtleties of this precision cast and machined component is the threaded port, where a sensor is fastened to monitor exhaust gases which feeds vital information to the systems computer to maintain maximum engine efficiency.

SRI’s fully complemented in-house Quality Department verifies parts to assure lot to lot quality is maintained. Additionally, samples from every lot are sent to an independent ISO17025 / NADCAP accredited test lab to certify material and other customer specifications. Radiography (X-ray) is also used to assure internal cast soundness is maintained allowing yet another level of manufacturing processes monitoring by SRI to further assure quality expectations and long term manufacturing/product integrity.

SRI castings are manufactured using a broad array of materials from stainless and alloy steels to every type of cast iron, including brass, bronze, and aluminum. Casting processes include sand, die, permanent mold, gravity and investment. SRI also provides other types of commodities including machined components, stampings, forgings, fabrications, plastic injection moldings, and more.
