This Quality Engineering position supports SRI’s Supplier Development Program providing a focus on continual improvement of existing supply factories and the onboarding process of securing and developing new suppliers. This entry to mid-level QE will support manufacturing activity related to new and legacy suppliers, prototype, production, quality assurance and control processes. This SQE, as a hands-on team member, will work directly with SRI’s Quality Engineering, Factory and Sourcing teams in the development and growth of SRI’s Supplier Expansion and Onboarding Program. This QE’s activity will include frequent visits to SRI’s existing and potential new factories abroad as a requirement and primary responsibility of this important position for Specialty Resources.

 Responsibilities

  • Develops, documents, implements and monitors production quality and manufacturing systems to assure processes yield high quality products per SRI and customer specifications. This role requires customer internal and external relationship building, partnering and interaction related to product quality in the areas of design review, quality and manufacturing systems development, corrective action and continual
  • Involved with the implementation of SRI & Customer manufacturing and quality requirements to assure error-proof processes include documented records and feedback systems enabling factories the ability to monitor, track and report production activity for continual improvement.
  • Evaluate and track supplier factory performance to determine action required for improvement.
  • Supports the activity to resolve customer complaints related to supplier and reported nonconformances.
  • Provide structure and discipline to assure quality systems provide repeatable control, are appropriate, adequate and practiced.
  • Supports the generation of, reviews and approves PPAP documentation such as Control Plans, Process Flow Maps, FMEA, Inspection plans and techniques, GR&R & test requirements.
  • Conducts and supports problem investigations using CAPA processes and RCA tools and methodologies.
  • Participates in the investigation of potential suppliers for partnering with SRI’s growing supply base.
  • Coordinates related sourcing activity from the ‘Trial’ through ‘Validation’ phases for production approval.
  • Compiles and analyses new potential supplier data, feedback and information to aid in the planning, execution and deployment of SRI’s Quality Team to help execute our Supplier Development Process.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Product Management Teams in support of Supplier Development planning.

Experience

  • Exposure and experience with a variety of component manufacturing, production and qualification test processes related to machining, welding casting, molding, stamping, forging, painting, plating, heat treating, assembly and fabrication.
  • PPAP, CAPA, RCCA, 8D, DMAIC, PDCA, SPC, GD&T, LSS, ISO9001, ISO 13485, TS16949 and/or AS9100, Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude for working with tools to perform assembly and testing of product.

Education

  • AAS or BSME (preferred), or related equivalent, or applicable industry experience in a manufacturing factory setting
  • ASQ certification(s). 

Skills

  • A self-starter with strong oral and written communication ability
  • Ability to work independently often times with minimal guidance and instruction
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • MS Office Suite, Outlook, etc.
